Wine, which was specifically in demand in a wide geography from the Western Meditteranean coast to the Black Sea coast with its unique amphoras, has been a product of Klazomenai (Urla) since 7 B.C. The microclimate and soil of Klazomenai have always been ideal for viticulture. When their vineyards were destroyed by phylloxera, Europe used to supply its wine from this region. In the early 2000s, Urla Winery set out to restore Klazomenai's lost reputation by blending traditional and modern approaches in its own vineyards. Urla Winery's main field of activity is wine production and viticulture. Their main goal is to revive the disappearing wine culture of the region and pass on this heritage to the future generations. Urla Winery uses organic and quality agricultural practices in their own controlled vineyards located on 550 acres of land. About 250-300 thousand bottles of quality boutique wine are produced annually from these vineyards which are breeded by clone selection technologies using domestic and international species. Urla Winery moves forward in their path with their passion from the first day. They are determined to open new doors by reviving and diversifying the phenomenon in the historical fabric of the region that is becoming more and more well-known by the tourists.
